Common Core Standards

The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). The standards demonstrate what students are expected to learn at each grade level so that every parent and teacher can understand and support their learning. The standards define the knowledge and skills students should gain throughout their K-12 education in order to graduate high school prepared to succeed in entry-level careers, introductory academic college courses, and workforce training programs.

ELC courses cover 100% of skills defined in Common Core State Standards. In addition to CCSS skills, our courses cover essential pre-requisites skills from previous grades for review and more advanced skills for students who want to get ahead.
The standards don't dictate curriculum or teaching methods. For example, just because a topic A appears before topic B in the standards for a given grade, it doesn't necessarily mean that topic A must be taught before topic B. The curriculum and teaching method are decided by the teachers and our experienced teachers have designed the course hierarchy to ensure that children learn the skills in proper sequence.
It is difficult to decipher the standards and we have done the work to make sure that a parent or teacher can easily understand the standard. We provide easy-to understand infographics outlining skills your child should know for each grade. You can download the infographics to understand what skills your child should know for the grade from our course page.
How to read the grade level standards?
1. Standards
Define what students should understand and be able to do.
2. Clusters
Summarize groups of related standards.
3. Domains
Are larger groups of related standards.
Standards from different domains may sometimes be closely related.
The following table summarizes what Math domains are covered in K-12 grades:
